DON'T USE GEAR OIL! It's designed to use the smmae oil in the gear train as in the hydraulics. The specs call for 90W GL-1. Some folks are using 15W40 engine oil because GL-1 might be hard to find. However NAPA carries it or can get it overnight. You can also use transhydraulic oil that is sometimes called universal tractor fluid. Just don't use gear oil! There are some brass parts that can be damaged by sulfur compounds in some gear oils.
