Like the other posts have said a roll pin is HARD so drilling, especially by hand, isn"t a real option. The biggest problem is that even if the hardness didn"t dull the bit the split down the side will more than likely cause the bit to hang up and twist off. Based on what your saying and I"m understanding, the big problem here is your not wanting to remove a bushing just to get it out. Without knowing the size of the roll pin or the bushing, I"ll make a suggestion that may or may not work for you depending on the sizes and accessibility of the ID of the bushing. If the roll pin is big enough in diameter to have a decent size hole in the center get a bit that size and use it to drill a hole down through the bushing. This will give you a hole to use as a guide. Then if the ID of the bushing is large enough to get to it use a burr to enlarge the hole enough from inside the bushing for the roll pin to drive on through. The hole in the side of the bushing should never make a difference but it"ll allow the pin to come out without removing the bushing completely. Good luck.
