I do pretty much all my own repairs. You have never heard me complain about the cost of parts for my tractors. I guess my real complaint is that I spent money at their store and when I asked for information, I was given a 1-800 number to call. As far as the china thing, I think that boat's already sailed. I don't think you can any consumer electronics made in this country. As far as what they pay their people who fix things? I don't know. I suspect you are right. But what am I supposed to do about it? Not buy anything? I see the results of a lopsided import policy every day. In southern Michigan ya can't go to far before you run into a abandoned factory. I bought some sweet corn last week from a guy that used to have his own machine shop. He had 10 employees and a buttload of cnc equipment. He made parts for American built equipment. The automakers are using a lot of foriegn built equipment now. Any repair parts come from Japan, Germany or China. Last big project I worked on, the Japanese builder would have been bankrupt by our standards. But their government subsidized my employer buying the equipment, rather than put a couple thousand people on unemployement. They exported their unemployement to us. The American bidder shut up shop a couple months later. They were bought out of bankruptcy by the Chinese. Hace a good day.

But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
