I dont know about a EGR valve,but my Chevy with throttle body when the fuel pump went out,would barely run.It would die at a stop sign and have to crank and crank to get it started.Then it would not run very good,surge,buck and die if you let off the gas.First I rebuilt throttle body,replaced throttle position sensor,fuel filter,then after that didnt fix it,fuel pump.Fired right up and ran good with a used fuel pump off another pickup.I didnt have a pressure guage,but I thought the fuel pump must be OK since it was pumping fuel.Except when I had the tank off,I hooked both pumps up to a battery to see how they pumped,and although my pump was still pumping,the good pump would pump way more gas.Probably 3 times as much more.
