This is terrific advise. The guy didn't say where he lives. If in Arizona, probably doesnt take much. If up north by us, he needs to consider spring washing & frost boils. Etc. Every region has special considerations. Drainage is the whole key to a roadbed. If there are any low spots or dips along his drive, water will puddle & soak up the road base, creating a weak spot, that will always cause problems, year after year. (You need these drained, or built up several feet high with good solid material.)I would build a roadbed as you did, not worry about it too much until the heavy construction was done, then surface it nice, and wait a year to look for problems before tarring it. Much easier to fix those frost boils when it's still gravel.... --->Paul
