Anyway, trying to trim down on some not really essential stuff around the place and become a little more efficient, I sold my truck (because I only used it to move some hay and a load of something now and then and I have a tractor and wagon with the same capability), sold a moped and a scooter that has been moved from one corner to the next for several years. Dismounted the frontloader from my tractor (I need to change the head gasket and I can also park it in a smaller spot) and am thinking about replacing it with a manual loader that hooks up to 3pt for no more than I use it.
And, I bought a used quad that is a perfect match for what I need which is mainly pulling a harrow through and under fruit trees and in a roundpen and checking on the horses. Doing real good so far.....
The quad has a rack on the front and back, and no matter what you do, you need something, so I strapped a plastic foot locker to the back rack, built a wooden crate for the front (had to have a place for a dog to ride) and instaled a couple of pieces ov PVC along the side to hold a pitchfork, rake, etc. And have a pioneer tool caddy ready to hang on it for just the right occasion.
1st thing the wife said when she walked in the gate and saw me doing the finishing touches was "you might be a redneck".......... Actually, that was the second, the first was "that thing ain't setting in my driveway"
I was just starting to like her too....
Can't think of where I went wrong. I think it looks pretty nifty, and I'm ready for almost anything that I may run across........ Maybe...
