A true power beyond valve used in an open center application WILL have three ports..............one connected to supply(P), one to tank(T), and one to the downstream functions/valves(PB).................
When a function is cycled on a power beyond valve it takes priority over any downstream functions and as a result the return oil from the function being cycled(cylinder/motor)is sent back to the resevoir via the "tank" port...............when the spool is returned to neutral the oil resumes flowing to the downstream functions via the "power beyond" port...........
An an "open center" valve that is connected with two lines is not considered to have "power beyond" capabilities............in that arrangment no priority is given, the function with the least resistance will operate first.................
A valve with power beyond capabilties CAN be hooked up with just two lines providing the "power beyond" adaptor is NOT installed....................
