James, You haven't "indexed" that clutch onto the shaft right. When you get it on right it will only rotate about 20 degrees in either direction before it bottoms against a stop bracket. You are probably about 20 degrees off- see what it stops against when engaged, rotate the clutch just past that stop when disengaged, and you should be OK
