However you weld it you need to v it out.If you get the DC welder you probably will never use the AC side,all you would need the AC side for would be 6011.I wouldnt use 6013 on anything except sheet metal because its not a deep penetrating rod like 6011.I would run a pass with 6011 after I veed it out,hit my 6011 pass with a grinder to get rid of the slag,then finish with 7018.You can get AC 7018 or 7014 rod now,but the DC is probably a better welder.Its probably worth your time to look for a used one with a crank on the front like an old big Lincoln or something DC,its easier to dial in your heat with one like that if you use a welder a lot.If you are close to a big city Craigs list or classifieds in a newspaper probably has what you are looking for for less money than they want for the AC welder.
