I planted Renk 488RR 87 day. I have to say it held up quite well for a mild drought. 8-9" long ears avg with full tip fill. Not as girthy as I had hoped, about 13-14 rows of kernels. Is drying down very fast, loose husks.
Neighbor planted Johnsons 8766RR. His cobs are about 9-9.5" long and are more girthy than mine, very nice cobs and a much taller plant, but doesn't seem to be drying down as well.I do see that in his drier areas the stalks did not produce a cob and his corn did not hold up near as well as mine. I have a nice cob on every stalk. Any input on your corn? I would love to hear from others with non irrigated sandy lands. I am shopping for seed for next year and would love some testimonials
