Do you want to fix it so you have a tach, the hour meter, speedometer, or all?
Seems very likely the mechanical tach/hour meter in your 580CK isn't going to be working right anyway - even with a good cable and tach-cable hooked to it. I've come across very few that do.
I've had several 580CKS (still have one) - all with 188D or 207D engines and several had the old generators with tach-drives removed and Delco 10SI alternators put in their place. Some later engines had tach-drives bolted onto the engine - I think the 580CK I have now has one - although I don't have it hooked to anything.
If you want to spend the time and money - the mechanical tach - if you pull it out - will have numbers on it that indicate the ratio it runs at. As to mechanical tach drives - I think you can stick one from a newer engine onto an old one - but I'm not 100% sure - and I don't have any old ones here where I can see easy ( I do have one buried in my steel scrap pile).
If you don't need to keep it original, you can buy an aftermarket diesel tach that will run off a stator-tap from the Delco alternator. As to an hour meter - just needs 12 volts of power when the tractor is running - you can buy just about anywhere.

Today's Featured Article - 12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
