I was quite shocked today, I bought a 600 gallon stainless tank from my boss at work. He told me 'scrap price', so I called the company that usually buys scrap from us at work expecting $.70 or $.80 per pound (I got $1.00 a pound in May for 900 pounds of stainless out of my fab shop). The guy told me that they are paying $.35 per pound and $.50 per pound if it's prepared. Short steel was $.07 per pound. Glad I sold in May and bought in September.
