generally that type of metal takes on a coating of oxidation/rust that in itself is kinda a protective layer.
My old mower is an actual Bush Hog brand and is 40+ years old. It was probably taken better care of the first 15 years of its life, but has been worked pretty hard the last part and sat outside.
I think it will just about outlive you if you take any kinda care of it.
