My sons (my ex) mother owened a bar and my son was bartending. A guy stated it was going to cost $7,000.00 to take down 5 trees. My son painted water towers so he asked to go take a look as it was winter and water tower painting has to wait till spring.
He told the guy he would do it for $5,000.00 a the deal was done.
Couple days later two lumber jacks came in for a cold one, my son asked what they would charge him to drop them on the ground. They said $200.00 and that would include the skidder. Another done deal. They came with the skidder and asked about the logs, and firewood. They agreed to pay him a couple hundred for the log / firewood.
We (three) cleared all the brush and cleaned up in a day and a half. I volenteered unknowinly, and my son hired a buddy that charged him four twelve packs. The only other expence was a tank of gas for the dump truck --wait I paid for that--but he did buy me dinner on the first day.
In case you are wondering---he did use my chain saws as well. And they say there is no money in timber?
