Matt, I have had good success repairing a diesel fuel saddle tank on an I H tractor using a product call Marine Tex. This product is available through boat repair shops. I cleaned the damaged area using a heavy wire brush mounted in a side grinder. I followed the instructions on the container and liberally applied the product to the outside of the tank. Afterward, I sanded the area and repainted the tank. This repair was made several years ago and it has held. I have seen two additinal repairs(car and a combine) that were made with the product that are also holding. A pint size container cost about $14 in my memory serves me correctly. The product is resistant to petroleum products. I believe that you can locate Marine Tex on the webb. Good luck.

Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects.
