Hey T Bone, I agree that welding on anything not knowing what is in it is bad..When I worked with Exxon gas system, we would make hot taps it was called.. Hot taps was welding on the pipeline so they could put in a new site.. The pressure was lowered as much as possible (usually between 500 to 700 psi) and then weld the pipe on the pipeline. After the pipe was welded a saddle was welded on for support.. they used a hot tapping company to cut hole in pipe..have seen a lot of hot taps and a lot of welding on pipe under pressure. All day to day jobs are dangerous if not thought about and talked about..MAY ALL HAVE A SAFE DAY
