LEGAL racism is over, but some folks [white AND black] are still racist, whether they admit it or not. No, the problem is, there are too many white folks today who look back at those days as "the good old days," when lynching black folks was as common as a church social, and nearly as accepted. AND there are too many black folks who want white folks who weren't even alive in those days to compensate them for discrimination that they never suffered under.
Once we begin legitimizing racism again, calling it "harmless fun," it becomes far too easy to slip into practicing it again. I'm a "live and let live" kind of guy, but I'm offended when someone starts playing "hang the ni**er" as a joke...because next time, it might be "hang the Jew," or "hang the Catholic," or whatever other group you choose to hate for whatever reason.
If that makes me a "complete idiot," just remember how Hitler started the Holocust...in the beginning, it was OK to hate just a few. [Or are you one of those folks who believe the Holocaust never happened, Dave?]
