A set of new coils, wires, plugs and cleaned up fuel system and most cranking engines will run fine. Occasionally a water pump seal or antifreeze mixed with engine oil will ruin the rods. It's a wonder most cranking engines have an intact bottom end. Rare if the oil is ever changed with most owners. The oil also is usually diluted with gasoline as most operators don't close the gasoline valve.
