It sounds like your Torque converter clutch is not disengaging when it gets hot. This was a common problem for those cars, especially the ones with the 3 speed automatic. If yours has the 3 speed, you can disconnect the electrical connector on the side of the tranny and drive it a few days to see if it will stop acting up. If that is the case, you will need to remove the side cover of the trans and replace the TCC solendoid. It's usally a pretty easy fix and not too expensive, if you're not afraid to get a little dirty. Any decent mechanic ought to be able to fix it for you without a terrible expense. Last one I did cost the customer about $100, but that was a few years ago. Good Luck and God Bless.
