It happened to the Bridgeton Bribge in Parke County IN a few years ago. it was rebuilt with volunteer help and donations and cost the county very little to do it, but it was rebuilt as a pedestrian bridge although it would carry traffic with no problems. The old bridge had been closed for years and the county had put a concrete bridge in next to it. I went to help work on it for part of a week. Best time I had in years even if it was hard work. By the way, the bozo who burned it had just gotten out of jail and the mental hatch for burning his apartment down. He burned one other bridge that night(jeffries ford) and a sherrif caught him at the 3rd one in Mansfield with cans of gas. I hope he rots in his cell.
