Did you know that every Japanese car that enters our market was built with a subsidy from their government? That makes quite a difference and makes for unfair, non-free, trade.
I'm all for free trade, but until the Japanese government stops subsidising the manufacturers, we should impose tarrifs.
I believe the American built cars of today are every bit as good as the imports. I bought a 3/4 ton Chevy van in 2006, have 275,000 miles on it, and have not had one issue, not one repair, under very tough driving conditions, towing 17' enclosed trailer all over the country, over mountains. Still on the 2nd set of tires, and everything else is original from the factory, including the brakes, spark plugs, tranny fluid, etc., etc.. That's hard to beat. Can't be beat actually.
I knew when I started seeing people buying Japanese full size pickups that Detroit was in trouble. I can't believe otherwise patriotic Americans would buy a foreign pickup.
