buickanddeere,
I'm not entirely sure of the intent behind your post but I do agree somewhat with the first two paragraphs..............
I've seen similar results from many of the large farming operations in our area. Many of these operators purchase land that have deserted homesteads on the property. These homesteads, usually found to have groves of trees, provide refuge for a multitude of various birds and animals. In an effort to gain every bit of productivity, even if only boils down to 2 - 3 acres, these "operators" destroy these homesteads along with their trees effectivley eliminating viable habitat....................one could argue that the land belongs to them and is theirs to do with as they please BUT their actions are responsible for the ever declining numbers of upland game birds in this particular area.............the same is true when these same "operators" farm through sloughs which are havens for waterfowl...........AND for WHAT??? a few extra dollars that they could quite comforatably do without!
As my Dad said: "Their only religion is the dollar bill!"
So there are no misconceptions of my intention, I enjoy hunting and have no use for the common "mainstream" environmentalist........I do, however believe that we, as land owners need to do our part in promoting wildlife conservation so those decisions aren't left in the hands of incompetant officials.............Also, so our grandchildren may enjoy the fall hunt as we have and the generations before us....................
