Road tires are to be replaced when the tread wear indicator bars are showing smooth (in any location that they cross) this indicator bar depth is functionally a part of the total depth, but must be used to determine when to replace the tire. Thus measure from tread surface to the top of the indicator bar on five bars, at the ends of the bars, and two places in the middle. If you have them in hand it can be done. If relying on the seller, it won't be done the way you would. JimN
