Unions have made concessions. How about 50% all ready. Hiring rates are 13 and 14 dollars an hour. Would you like to follow a moving assembly line and never get a break or wet your pants because it was not the right time or your relief man didn't show? It's like being chained to a machine that never stops. I was skilled trades so I never had it too bad until the last. Besides doing my emergency repairs, I loaded machines, and ran production when someone was off. At 58 years old, with certified medical problems, I substituted for other trades and production and worked, honest to God, harder than I ever worked anytime in my life, including Navy and recapping tires and construction. Glad to get pay the worked up to 28 dollars and hour but now retired and mentally and physically shot. This was not the light I saw at the end of the road. The big boys can make any deals or bailouts they want. Union members have no control. If the big boys pass on executive comp and perks, tomorrow they can get it back. Does anyone remember the time GM broke the contract and cut pay and benefits. They are holding all the marbles, we have the bag.
