You are right, 1 in 7 is a scary number. I say let them all go bankrupt. Didn"t GM file a while back? I think this was several years ago.
If employees and unions both would quite griping about what they don"t get paid and look at what they do get paid everyone would be better off. Some of these early retirement packages pay way too much, and people complain when they recieve them. Some of these auto workers need to wake up. There are people out there who don"t get to retire at all! Take EARLY retirement and hit the road! I'm totally unimpressed by someone who complains about working indoors at a plant for 30 or 40 years. Try working outdoors if you think indoor work is rough! I'm doubting any farmer gets the kind of pay or benefits that some of these people get.
The companies asked for failure when they let unions walk in the front door. There are reasons why alot of workplaces don"t have unions and don"t want anything to do with them!
