Well... I don't know what deal you agreed to in the spring, so I'll say this. Our pricing on firewood is like this. If you want it split, it's 155/cord. If you want it round, it's 135/cord. If you want it in 8' or random lengths then it's 115/cord. That's all based on 8' measurements and all delivered prices. Most of our competitors around here have lower prices for 8' and round wood... but we give a break for split wood since we didn't really want to handle 8' lengths.
Look at pricing in your area to determine what your 'time' is worth.
Personally, I read the other responses from people who think you're being taken advantage of and I wonder... but did you really expect that you'd get 2-4 cords of wood for absolutely nothing? Around here you'd not get it for nothing... There's lots of stuff done on the buddy system like that and it'd probably get split 50/50 or so in your case. Really, you're getting a bunch of wood for a few hours work.

Today's Featured Article - A Question for Dads This recent topic from the Tractor Talk discussion board is being highlighted because it is an awesome display of the caliber of individuals that have made this site their own. The young person asking questions received positive feedback and advice from total strangers who "told it like it is" with the care many reserve for their own kids. The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
