I think law-abiding citizens should be allowed to own guns. I have no desire to take the guns away from people who behave with them. That said, I don't see that the general population has a real need for an AK-47, much less the mental stability to use one. My support for everyone's 2nd Ammendment rights would be more vocal if the gun-loving right-wingers could accomplish two simple missions: 1) Quit YELLING about the impending siezure of weapons by the government (News Flash, it sounds hystercial) and 2) put some serious peer-pressure on the idiots that think owning a hunting rifle gives them the right to shoot holes in highways signs (especially those that indicate "deer crossing") as well as other inanimate objects and occasional livestock.
The constant trumpeting of "They're coming to take them away, etc." should be dialed back to situations where there is a REAL threat to gun ownership. And in much the same way that ash-tray-dumping smokers tend to generate ill will, the "hunters" who put holes in everthing including the new sign at the local John Deere dealership don't do much to inspire the support or confidence of the general population.
