My dad bought a Gleaner "E" in 1969 just like this one. He used it up until 1991 and sold it at his farm equipment auction when he retired. He ate a lot of dust thru the years with that combine. My dad, my older brother and I spent many an hour on there riding together on the old combine. I remember when he first brought it home we all called it his new self propelled combine. We use to reach back in the hopper as the grain was coming in and grab a hand full of wheat to eat as we road along in the field. We farmed around 200 acres and my dad's reason for not getting a bigger machine was that he got the same price for grain as the other farmers and this combine was paid for! This photo brings back a lot of memories for me. Just a couple of years before I left home I took my ole 35mm camera out and took pictures of us planting and harvesting in the field. I'll never regret taking those pictures. Wish I would of done it years before. Some show our neighbors helping out and they are all passed away now but a few. Wish I could bring those days back again!!
