If you take your trip in Sept, the Antique Engine and Tractor Association in Atkinson, Ill. has a 3 day working farm show the 18,19,20 of Sept. Atkinson is about 30 miles east of Moline Ill on I80. Combining beans, picking ear corn and shelling out of crib, threshing machine running wheat, probably, and sawmill. Plowing starts after enough crops are harvested to have room enough to go. Oliver is the feature tractor and we will have help from the Midwest Oliver Collectors during the show.This is a good working show where you can see the machines doing what they were built for. Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
