800 was the series identifier for the utility version with the 172cu in engine. There were many variations and no one has just a plain "800". The second number would indicate pto and hyd lift. Example: "2" indicates none; "4" indicates 4 speeds and non-live pto; "6" indicates 5 speeds fwd and live pto. The third digit was zero until 1958 and then it became "1" So if you have an 860 it would mean you have 5 forward speeds and a live pto mfg from 1955 through 1957. If you have an 841 it means it has 4 forward speeds and non-live pto mfg from 1958 up. And, if you have an 871, may God help you. (;>)) Get onto Smith's Ford Tractor page website.
