ford 3000 drain plugs

I recently bought a ford 3000 diesel and was changing the hydraulic fluid. there were two fill plugs, two drain plugs and two plugs on the side that I guess were there to show when the resevoir was full. But I also found a larger, flatter plug between the two drain plugs. I am not sure what it is. It looks like it has been removed before. I don't have a manual and the previous owner was no help. Any idea what it is ?
