A keyway is like a groove in the axle. The wheel would have a similar groove in it. A small piece of keystock fits in these grooves so that the wheel won't slip on the axle. Sometimes the key(stock) will magically come out or break or the keyway(groove) will get damaged and allow the axle to spin inside the wheel. It does sound like you just need to adjust the drive system though. Dave
