I was laughing when I read your post, the Mountain Dew thing must be uniform drink for out or work-don't want to work bumbs. I now only hire people who already have a full time job and can work afternoons and weekends. I pay $10 per hour and I also hire another guy who does some of his own hay and another guy who is a mechanic and I pay them $20 per hour, and I have a retired GM worker who hauls wagons for me. All these people pretty much only work in the summer for me. With the economy being so bad here in Michigan it is real easy to get help now, I am able to pick and choose and don't have to pick the loosers to work on my hay crew, I always end up with more help then I can use.
