Gene, one thing to remember about ALL energy forms is that energy cannot be decreased or increased, just changed in form. All energy that is produced takes energy to produce it. Corn is used because it is readily available and is reasonably priced. It became reasonably priced due to the governments long standing "cheap food" policy. Government leaders for years encouraged corn farmers to develop new markets for this mountain of surplus corn that they had encouraged by their policies. Corn farmers took them at their word and developed a clean burning alternative fuel. We just took a sow's ear and made a purse out of it and now folks are castigating us for doing for ourselves.
