In 1965 I purchased a neighbors Delavel System for a 44 Cow Stanchion barn and modified it to work in my Surge 3 on a side Parlor. The neighborhad had used it for about 20 years ,so yes Delavel had a Pipeline Milk System back in the late 40's early 50's. My Dad used a Transfer Buggy with a clear Glass line suspended from the Barn Ceiling and vacumn to pull the milk to the Bulk Tank in the 1950's.You had to pay attention to the Line valve and not leave it open between Bucket Dumps. We used Surge Bucket Milkers in a 48 Cow Stanchion Barn. The State finally condemed this set up and wanted a $11K system installed so Dad said nope and quit milking and semi retired to crop farming and did Carpenter work on the side for a few years until Diabetes caused the loss of both his Legs and eventual Death at the age of 62.Now at 71 years I suffer with Diabetes and take 3 injections per day,one is 16-20 units of Insulin and every day I hope that I can avoid those same circumstances.
