lost the better part of a Nova-bodied Late Model Stock Car coming north on 95 from Southside Speedway in Richmond in about "88. In those times, we carved out the fenderwells and those big old slicks stuck out on all 4 corners, and of course my trailer had no fenders from so many people at the track standing on them. I was pulling home late late on Friday evening and was just dead tired- pulled over at the weigh station in Fredericksburg to grab a quick sleep. Shortly after, a state trooper rapped on my window and asked if I was ok- did I need any help? I said nope, just tired. He said, I thought you"d had an accident, take a look. The car had come loose and rolled backwards, and the left front slick had hooked onto the left front trailer tire and both tires had burnt through and were destroyed- the car was hanging half off the trailer. I was in such a sleepy daze I had never even noticed it. Trooper helped me push it back on.. I promised to call a buddy for a spare trailer tire (didn"t have one),,.once the trooper left I limped it home on 3 trailer tires, wide a$$ awake now.
