I bought one of those LP salamanders, 44,000 btu per hour model, someone had it on craigslist, along with a compressor that I bought as well.
Left my LP powered tractor outside, right after the icestorm here, no start, put a tarp over it, set that unit underneath, away from the tarp, was connected to a 20lb bbq tank, about 20 minutes later, she fired up, took awhile to warm up, stalled out once, LP was freezing up, but 2nd time left that tarp on there, heat on again, that was it. I then kicked my car out of the garage, put that tractor in there, no more cold starts, that little heater cost me $40, works great, just have to always remember it's an open flame, my LP fuel system on the tractor was rebuilt, no leaks, same with other fuels, without it, it would still be there with these temps lately.
