It was around 5F last week when I tried to start my Ford 4610. No go.
A friend lent me an oil fired torpedo heater and after an hour of it blowing on the oil pan and block, my tractor started right up. I fed the cows and then took it to a neighbors heated shop where I added a block heater. Starts on the first turn after ~3 hrs of being plugged in.
Don't build a fire under it. You're liable to burn it up. See if you can find a block heater for it or use a an oil or propane heater. It's safer.
