The H replaced the F-12/F-14 but had the power of the F-20. The F-20 had been somewhat superseded by the F-12 which could cultivate 2 rows of corn, which is all the F-20 could do. The F-30 could cultivate 4 rows and was replaced by the M. The only thing the F-12 could not do well was it did not have enough power to handle 2 14 or 16 inch plows or some of the threshing tasks. Putting F-20 power into an F-12 sized tractor did what was required. The A was a new size tractor to compete with the Allis Chalmers B.
