What voltage does the panel read when you toggle it up? Could just be a bad connection, or a loose belt or the alt. It could also be a drain on the battery when the machine is sitting. If you remove both battery cables and stick an ohm meter on there you can see if there's an electrical load there and then follow the load up the harness. This is done with the machine NOT running.
