.Some time during Xmas vacation ,while I was operating my grader, my grandaughter was dragging an aparatus to smooth the berm left by me grading. After a time she appeared at the shop with the tractor spouting steam like a tea kettle. She then said "I told you yesterday ". So I let it cool off some and later I added some water to the system. It seemed to be moving the coolant and I wondered if I had blown a head gasket?I parked it and let it set for a spell and today I loosened the drain plug and wanted to see if there was any coolant in the pan. But I dont think I quite made a proper assessment as the drain plug came loose and the oil came out, needed changing anyhow. The questions that come to mind are: should I add coolant and let it stand with no oil and see if there is a coolant leak? Should I refill and operate to see if the haed gasket is KAPUT? or WHAT.
