I would install a calibrated gauge to be sure its not the sending unit. My former co-worker had this problem on a Ford car and he was lucky as the light came on in front of his garage. The valves started to get noisy and he shut it off and we pushed it into the garage and put a gauge on it and it had no pressure. He took the next day off on leave and pulled the pump. He called me at work to pick up a new pump. I went over and helped him to install the new pump. Good thing he had the manual. The old pump was sludged up even though the car had low miles and the pressure relief was bypassing the oil. Ford cars had another problem back in the 70's that the hexagon drive off the pump drove the distributor too and these were only 1/4" shafts and would break. They came out with 5/16" shafts as a fix, but I think you had to change the pump and distributor. I don't know if Ford had a recall on this problem. Hal
