I have a 1989 Ford 3/4 ton diesel that the transfer case is bad in, I have a case out of a 1996 Ford 3/4 ton diesel, will these swap? They look identical except for the speedometer mounting hole. When swaping cases do you have to watch for anything like gear ratio, or will they swap as long as bolt holes and u-joint yokes and such match. None of the numbers on the metal tags match. On the 89 the tag reads: L088 3 1356-34 01348 E9TA-TA
On the 96 the tag reads: B174 3 1356-64 157450 F2TA-BB
Can anyone tell me what these numbers mean? Thanks for any help. Bubby
