Dad had both of his replaced. The only problem he experienced was due to his age and physical strength. They had him in physical therapy the next day with the first one but the second one four years later took a lot longer in physical therapy and was more painful for him. They glued the new hip replacement into a tapered bore in his femur both times because at his age they did not think the bone would grow on the new hip pin. The worst pain came during the first 12 to 24 hours. He fell when the first one was about three years old and bent the metal hip so he walks kinda funny from that but otherwise no lasting effect.
