Now if this is a 706 gasser you are going to have to learn several things . One when the they are cold they will stumble when ya try and give them gas . Next see if your heat riser is free and the bi metal spring is there and hooked on the pin on the out side of the manifold this deal is to help the manifold to heat faster and help with this problem . IF you do not have a book on this tractor then get one . Learn how to tune it and how to set the ing. timing correctly as this is most critical . next weather you like this or not YOU MUST RUN 93 octane gas in this tractor as that is the lowest grade that it was made to run on . You must use LOW ASH OIL in that engine . Make sure that the thermostat is working and here again this is important . Also look the engine over and locate the cubic inch displacement it will be on a flat machined surface by the oil filter base . The 706 gas came with a C263 on the early ones and a C291 on the later ones . the tune up spec. are NOT all the same on every thing. .I have covered a lot of things on 706 tractors over on the I H board and believe me i know every nut and bolt in them and all the quarks about them.
