A fellow in our church has 3 kinds of cancer at the same time. Has had if for about 3 years now. Before Christmas his wife was there telling about all the treatments he has to go thru. She said that he needed platelets, but there were never enough to go around, so each patient only got enough to get by till the next time they needed them. I had never heard of this, so I went to the local Blood Bank and inquired. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to donate, they take your blood, strain out the platelets and pump it back in. I know this is a poor explanation of the procedure, sorry. Anyhow, I donated on 1-2 and will donate again on 1-13. You can donate every 2 weeks, up to 24 times a year. If you know anyone who has cancer, please consider donating, you will help improve the quality of their life. Chris
