I assume that you also are not getting spark to the plugs. Make sure that the point setting is correct As RB stated your points are probably open, make sure that the points are closed. With voltage to the coil and the wire from the coil connected to the points, open the points with a screwdriver. You should see a spark. If you don't, lay the shank of the screwdriver on the top of the distributor and touch the end of the screwdriver to the points. If you get spark at this test your points are not grounded. If you have spark at both tests you will then have to check the rotor and cap for proper contact. I am also assuming you have the battery wire on the correct post on the coil. If this does not help repost with more info. good luck
