Let it ride--if he's in his mid-forties, the current market condition means absolutely nothing to the ultimate value of his current portfolio. The market is, by nature, cyclical, and at his age he is a net buyer of stocks (he buys more than he sells), so this correction is the best possible thing that could happen to the stock market.
