Does it have the Northstar or the 4.9 engine?
I should be able to answer that. If it was a Northstar, you'd be complaining about oil consumption. Cadillac engineers actually designed the Northstar to use a quart to 1400 miles. They used a coarser final hone in the cylinders to keep more oil in the upper part of the engine. If you drive the he11 out of them , you can get that down to a quart in 3,000. They're a high performance engine, and you do have to run them and blow the soot out regularly.
A Northstar is like a diesel farm tractor; you have to work it to keep it healthy. A Cadillac Service Manager on a Caddy forum I visited said he knew the driving habits of most of his Northstar owners, and the ones that drove them the hardest had the healthiest engines.
