Basically you need a vise a hammer and some kind of driver for the hammer to beat on, a socket or piece of pipe will work. set the socket inside the visible outline of the bearing cap on the side of the yoke and beat it. I have also had some luck using the vice as a press....a hydraulic press if you have one would make the whole thing much easier. Anyway beat on it until the bearing cap comes out of the yoke on the opposite side. Dont beat it tho so that the cap comes flying off the other side or the needle bearings will disappear into your shop floor. Then beat the open end of the crosspiece back in the other direction to get the other cap out...use something sensible so that you dont mess up the cross piece. Once both bearing caps are off the crosspiece will twist right out. There should be retaining clips...it is possible that somebody who put it together last didnt get the caps pressed on far enough to get em on. good luck Kim Hartshorn
